Meet Our Founder
Maulana Dotch
Maulana Dotch, a native of Irving, Texas, was introduced to golf by her father, Emanuel Dotch, who motivated her to learn the game, develop her talent, and pursue her competitive junior golf career by joining the men's golf team at Irving High School. Her talent earned her a golf scholarship and a bachelor's degree in accounting at Bethune-Cookman University, a historically black college (HBCU) in Daytona Beach, Florida.
After college, Dotch pursued playing professional golf by competing for two seasons on the LPGA Futures Tour, now known as the Symetra Tour and Epson Tour. Dotch's passion for promoting inclusion and diversity in the sport soon guided her into a career in the golf industry, introducing the game to kids, women, and minorities. For 12 years, Dotch worked at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Dallas, Texas, as both Assistant Golf Professional and Head Golf Professional. She earned her PGA and LPGA membership, making her the second-ever African-American woman to become a PGA Member. In these roles, she created new golfers, managed daily operations, staff, tournaments, and operated hundreds of junior golf programs, including Get Golf Ready, Ladies Golf Clinics, PGA Jr. League, and the First Tee of Greater Dallas.
Dotch currently serves as General Manager at Hermann Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, becoming the first African-American woman PGA Member to serve as a General Manager of a golf facility. She is the founder of Journey Through 18, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the development of young women as they embark on their golf journey, guiding them through their adolescent years up to age 18.
